I have been using Melbourne IT Web Hosting services for a few years and have found it a very reliable company to deal with. My website usually experiences traffic levels of between 3000 and 6000 visitors per month which at those levels is ideally suited for shared hosting that is reliable.
I would have no hesitation recommending Melbourne IT to anybody that wants the peace of mind of dealing with a larger company (even though it may be a touch more expensive)
Most expensive hosting providers in Australia. Hard to justify the price. Help and support only last till money is paid, No support even to get the domin key back after contract is finished.
Melbourne IT have just informed me that they’ve deleted all of the data from my site. All of the content, user details, everything.
The reason they’ve deleted it is because their billing system can’t cope with my perfectly ordinary visa card. They send me an email saying the transfer didn’t go through, I ring them up, turns out there’s nothing wrong with it. Repeat.
This goes on for months then they stop sending me the emails, I stop rining because it seems they’ve finally sorted it out, they delete my web site.
I then ring them to find out what is going on, they say that the most recent backup they have is from months ago, before most of my users signed on. The tell me they’ll get it back up immediately, and 24 hours later it’s still not there. I’ve just called them and they have no intention of doing it for at least the next 2 days.
If they were just useless I’d understand. It’s being proactively stupid that I find difficult to deal with.

That’s not true. I requested this, they said they don’t have it. They only have their own ControlPanel. Been using their service for few years. Domain so expensive compare to others.
If you want to sleep at night don’t use Melbourne IT. Trust me, I’ve been in business longer than them. Bloody incompetent.
Melbourne IT do charge admin and set up fees. There are hidden costs everywhere! they’re so expensive and they’re servers are in the US not in Australia. Check some other forums before you sign up. They’re probably the most expensive out there. And they’re loosing credibility.
$140 FOR A DOMAIN REGISTRATION…… JUST PLAIN ROBBERY!!!!
I think they really rely on people not really knowing what their doing or what other kind of prices are like. People search around! Some offer the same think for $12. Plus they don’t tell you prices on their website until you actually add the item to your cart!!
NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER USE MELBOURNE IT! I have been with them for a month and my account has worked for less than 20 hours of it! They charged me twice and are denying it, thier customer service staff tell you to read a manual rather than helping you with your problems and they even said to me “sorry it wont work” but wont stop my account. I am running a business and cant use email at all and when it did work for 20 hours only outbox worked, not inbox. Dont do it! Trust me!
Unbelievably bad system they have.
Whatever domains you book with them there is no way to check their names as all they do is send email of renewal and if that does not reach you then you loose your domains
Today I lost my 4 domains with more than 10 years in age.
I received no mail from them and here I loose a fortune.

I had a simple issue renewing a domain and support is absolutely NON-RESPONSIVE. Avoid this site! Not to mention their domain renewal costs are literally over 3x the cost of other sites.
